The maritime industry continues to take major steps toward decarbonization, with the launch of the world’s first methanol-powered subsea and offshore wind installation vessel—Windkeeper—marking a significant technological milestone.

This ship is a Service Operation Vessel (SOV) designed with a focus on environmental sustainability, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting fuel transition in the shipping industry. The Windkeeper can operate on methanol, a cleaner-burning alternative fuel, and is built to support offshore wind energy infrastructure—a growing sector in the transition to renewable energy.
